Dear future self I'm am currently a year six in a class called GRi11 2.0. Things that I would like to remember about my being a year six in this class is my awesome teachers and how I moved up in maths from stage six to stage seven. And I would also like to remember all the times I used to cross my fingers, toes, legs, eyes, and hope that I would get a go for gold in the go for gold draw.

I would like to remember my teachers Mr R and Mrs Gordon they are spectacular teachers with a fun side as well not many people you will find today have a fun side.

I would also like to remember my friends Ashwin, Jaykib,Seth,Carter,Hyacinthe My highlights of year six are the time when had shared lunches and the pajama day were we got into a group and made dance whilst in pajamas. Things I would also like to remember is the 3D printing and how I made a balloon powered car and headphone

My rap

Gri11 2.0 it’s some place where we learn everyday in a different way
Mrs Gordon Mr Robertson there the best teachers ever I guess that's why we're so clever

TTS is a thing of the past in this day in age the internet is fast

In Gri11 2.0 where are not just workers but life long learners

GRi11 2.0 are a funny bunch but don’t be fooled we pack a punch

Working together some call it Collaboration in my opinion it’s helping me get my graduation
Every day is a good day good or bad ain't nobody got time to be mad

When times get hard and where in the learning pit
We are never gonna quit because we
Are GRI11 2.0

This is a rap that I made (GRi11 2.0 is the name of my class)

Bees Argument

BEES
The bee is an extraordinary creature so how can we prevent it from becoming extinct?

First of all the bee does not just make delicious honey but they help our environment immensely.
It is amazing because the bee is unable to see red so the bee uses ultraviolet
light to see colours. The bee uses her straw like tongue to suck up liquid, called nectar. In a special small stomach called a honey sack.
The bee walks all over the flower and gets covered in golden dust this is called pollen. She rolls the pollen into balls and then into a basket then puts them on its back legs. Then returns home with her baskets.
Bee pollen is often referred to as nature's pollen. In fact without bees we humans would have not much more years to live.

How can we prevent the bee and the honey bee from becoming extinct?.Well we need to take action so we can save the extinction of bees. The solution is we need to have enough flowers so bees can keep pollinating and keep at work with there every daily routine which would be getting the pollen and making honey.

Humans are also part of this because bees are dying. humans are using pesticides called neonicotinoids are not only killing the bees but its is extremely difficult for crops to grow. The Varroa mite which is a parasite that attacks bees. They lay eggs inside the bees breathing tubes so that they are unable to breathe hence they die this Called Colony Collapse Disorder or (CCD)

After you read this I hope you understand that bees are important to humans and that we need to keep them from extinction and if you don't believe watch a bee outside and watch the cycle of the average bee.

Fathers Day...

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY DAD.
We had just turned into Turakina beach as the sign read. We drove through the sandy road that almost looked like it perfectly fitted the car. To my left I saw plants that looked like they were guarding something, maybe a cave? We had just found a spot to park. I hopped out of the car and ran down the beach. I stopped in amazement, I could hear massive waves crashing against the beach shore.

I had an awesome idea I said to Dad “Why don’t we build a hut?”
Dad and I scoured the beach for materials that we could use. I yelled out to dad “Dad, Dad I see a piece of driftwood that would be good”.
Dad helped  me lift up the colossal piece of wood. We dragged it over to where the rest of the other wood that we had found was. From the items that we had found †we constructed a masterpiece of a hut.

I could hear the faint sound of a seagull whistling in the wind.
I tripped on something. I looked down it was a jersey covered in sand.
I picked it up and ran over to the hut. I said to Dad “I have an idea!”.
Dad helped me rip three squares,  it had to be perfect or else it would not stay in the wind. I looked around to see if I could find anything to make a flag pole out of. I saw three pieces of driftwood that were somehow combined. Dad helped me sit it upright. We tied the flags onto the driftwood. We sat the flags next to the hut. There... it looked awesome!

I crawled inside the hut and asked Dad if we could have lunch in there. He said no but I was not disappointed. I looked around again to see if I could find any glass bottles that we could maybe use for a chandelier. The tide was starting to come in so Dad and I both agreed that we should start to head home.

This was a great day and awesome memory of you and me having fun together.

Happy Fathers day Dad I hope that you even joy your day of relaxation and chill…

3D Printing In GRi11 2.0

This me uploading my design to the 3D printer.

This the finished product (headphone hooks).

A computer that I used to make my design. And the 3D printer (right).
Today I did some 3D printing with Mr R. My task was to create a hook that can be screwed into the wall so that our classes head phones could be hung up.

Before we 3D print anything we must use a website called Project Ignite to access Tinker Cad. With Tinker CAD you can make anything the only limit is your imagination. In Tinker CAD we design our creation using CAD. CAD stands for Computer Aided Design. Once we have finished our design (which can take hours) we export it as an STL file.

3D printing uses 100% plastic to print the object. It can come in different colours like blue green white and so on. Once the printer is warmed up we upload the STL file using the UP! software and print our design. Printing can take up to hours depending on the size of the object and the fill.

I really enjoyed designing the headphone hooks because it is so fun, there are no limitations YOU CAN LITERALLY MAKE ANYTHING WITH 3D PRINTING.

My Birthday Party!

On Friday the 13th of May I had my birthday party.

I had it at wave rave at the lido aquatic centre. It was so fun there was foam, inflatables, and lollies,

I got out of the car and helped my mum carry some things I picked up the birthday cake.I wanted to eat it so bad the smell of the velvet cake I imagined the taste in my mouth yum yum!

The sliding doors opened I felt and urge of excitement ruining through my veins we proceeded towards the counter and paid.We found our table and set up. Finally my friends were all here Dom,Tyler B,Ben,Hyacinthe,Terado,We decided that we should go in spa first usually its 16 year olds only but because it is wave rave they let you in if you are ten and up.We all stepped into the spa I was so relaxed and tired.A couple of minutes later my friends had the idea that we should go on the gigantic inflatable I did not agree with that idea because I was so relaxed and comfortable the spa was so hypnotic. But I had not tried the inflatable so I got out and went.

It was my turn finally the life guard said go and I sprinted to the first obstacle climbed up it and jumped down and slid. Then the second obstacle was a weaving through the giant inflatable pillars the last obstacle I climbed all the way up looked down it was a jump into the water. I did a huge jump into the water and watched my friends do it and cheered them on.

All of my friends and me entered a competition that you had to have both hands behind you back and there was a chocolate fish on a string and who ever ate it first wins. The prize was a mini nerf gun.Terado came first we all rushed over to congratulate him.

We had some more party food but then eventually it was time for my friends to go home unfortunately we were all very tired because it was nine o'clock at night.I said by to all my friends and then helped my mum pack up all the leftover pizza and lollies and then drove of.

I can't wait till my next birthday.
This is like the inflatable that I went on.

Traditional Teaching Style CSI

TTS means Traditional Teaching Style. It was a block where we were taught in a traditional teaching style. We were sitting in named desks, with straight backs and weren’t allowed to talk. The work was all out of textbooks and we even had to do dictionary skills.

TTS was to show us how school used to be and to build our knowledge of student agency.

A CSI is thinking tool that we use after an event to show our thinking about what happened. C stands for Colour, the colour you think of when thinking about the event. S stands for Symbol, the symbol you think of when thinking about the event. I stands for Image, the image you think of when thinking about the event.

This is the CSI I did after TTS and it shows my thinking about what happened.

This is the CSI I did about learning in GRi11, and it shows how I think about it.

Sports Rotations

At our school we have sports rotations. Sports rotations is a block where we learn different sports from coaches (professional and student coaches). It is on Tuesday afternoons and it includes soccer, golf, hockey, badminton, tennis, circuits, touch, table tennis, basketball and games.

My favourite sport in sports rotation is badminton. It is awesome when you have a long rally with the other player. It also awesome when it gets competitive and the other team member does tricks to get you out. Badminton is coached by Joonoh and Anneka. I have learnt so much from them about badminton and how to play the game.

I wish we had cricket for a sports rotation we did have it once. I have got a plan of how it would be set up. There would be a bat on one side with a tee and on the other side a ball. You would hit the ball off the tee to your partner and repeat 30 times, that way every kid would get a long go. They could also practice throwing, balling and catching.

My Term Holidays.

In my term holidays I went to my holiday programme and and there we do really fun stuff like sports stars.Sports stars is when in the afternoon the supervisors set up an obstacle course that we have to get through. We do two activities a day and they are action packed. The last day that I came we had van rely.Van rely is when there are 5 or 6 vans and they do a scavenger hunt. We have a list per van and we have to get all the items on the list.Who ever gets back first wins everyone wants to win so we take risks so we can get ahead.

We all had the idea that when the supervisor said go that we would drive on the grass onto the road"..3...2...1 GO!" the supervisor said."Full speed ahead!" I said we drove over the grass we all clapped in excitement. We were in second place now we all were excited that we were second we though that we should do the easy things first and then do the other ones last. finally we had finished our list and were racing back to the programme. We were pulling in to the car park....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! we were last but how? Wait a minute they are only four vans here we were weren't at lest we were not last. we got out into the hall they said "ha ha your last!" we explained that there were only four vans and we were the forth one we settled down and played a game.

And that was my holidays.

Swimming Sports 2016

It was swimming sports for 2016 it was the day I had been dreading.

I was never really good at swimming in my opinion.
It was really awesome to see my friends swim My favourite race had to be the one with  Cole and Ian and Lachlan. They all chose to dive Mr Smith hit the clappers together and they were of .Cole was taking the lead closely behind Ian, and behind Ian, Lachlan, it was neck and neck between Cole and Ian it was like two cats fighting over a ball of string. Everyone was shouting and jumping in excitement I was not cheering for Cole or Ian I was cheering for Lachlan even though he was not winning I was good that he was giving it a go. Personally myself I could not swim a medley.Cole was on his last lap it was free style this was going to be a close finish.Cole came first Takahe was cheering because Cole was in that team Lachlan was finished everyone was cheering for him even though he came last.

Now it was my turn flutter board was my specialty I was racing Van Oliver we had to start in the pool 3...2...1.... bang Mr Smith clapped the clappers and the race started I was taking the lead! I can't believe it I was first but Van was close behind in fact now he was be side me I slowed down a bit because I was tired but forgot that Van was  beside me now he was first I was  sad because there was now way I was going to catch up but I was quite happy that I was second though I finished second and Oliver finished third and Van finish first.

After we had finished all of our races we did for fun some relays. They sorted us into our houses Takahe,Tui,Weka,Kea. The girls were down the other side of the pool and the boys were on the opposite end. I was third in the Takahe line.It was my turn I was confident but I had done it before so I was not so scared. I jumped on to the giant surf board and a was off I kicked as hard as I could. I was on the other side and was cheering on the other people on.Final the last person was going across to the other side we won yay! I was so happy we all hopped out of the pool.

Swimming sport was so awesome I can't wait till next year!!

Swimming sports was awesome!!

WeetBix Tryathlon

On Thursday the 24th of March 2016 I completed the WeetBix Tryathlon at Ongley In Palmerston North. If you did not know what a Weetbix Tryathlon is it is a huge event that runs all around New Zealand. It is a swim, a bike, and a run. This event is sponsored by THE HITS ( radio station) ,Asics (makes sports shoes),Anchor(milk),Haier(makes kitchen appliances).

Unfortunately the rain was not in our favor but after a while it started to settle and the Tryathlon was awesome.

My favorite part about the Triathlon was the run.Because you felt a awesome sensation in your legs for the first time in forever I didn't feel tired at all and I did I kept pushing myself.

My least favorite part was the swim because when I started I had a plan that I was going to do backstroke but then it all turned to custard. I got about halfway and then I realized that I was getting tired so I asked for a flutter board and looked up and turned my whole body around. To look up and caught my breath and then I started to kick again. After I got to the end I hopped out of the pool.

After the try I hung out with my mates Jaykib Dun and Jack Bassett we went to all the stalls and all the tents. I got a snow cone and some slap bands that had the name of the sponsor Anchor and some other stuff too.

I can't wait till the next WeetBix Tryathlon next year,

HURRICANES!!!!

                         HURRICANES!!!!

Yesterday the Hurricanes came to our school and hung out with us for a block. It was so amazing!
It felt like it was not real, like I was on tv.We were sitting in the hall, the whole school was there when finally Mr R announced that we needed to give a huge cheer for the Hurricanes! I felt a wave of excitement as they were entering the hall. People cheered in excitement.A couple of minutes later the Rippa team where having a game green bibs vs the yellow bibs and the hurricanes were coaching them! then after the rippa team had there games the Hurricanes did some jump jam with us.

Why were the Hurricanes here?
The Hurricanes were here because a little girl in the junior syndicate entered us in the competition after the Hurricanes did some stuff with the girls class they did some spelling and reading with the class. I was a little bit jealous.

My Favourite Place to Sit

This is my favourite place to learn in GRi11 2.0.
Its a good place to work if you want to fire through your fast track

My Favourite Place To Learn In GRi11 2.0

This year in our class we have been learning about Hauora. Hauora means wellbeing in Maori. Hauora has helped us design our learning spaces for the year.

There are endless learning spaces in GRi11, including the hub, the hang out, the hide out, and the hall of fame.

The hide out is where Lisa works and does the touch and cricket uniforms and it is also where the safe is where all the computers are kept. If you want to work in there you must be silent.

The hang out is where you can go if you want to talk with someone about your learning.

The hall of fame is basically a passage through to room 10 but just a cooler name for it.

The space I enjoy the most is the table next to the fridge in the hub.

My favourite spot on that table is the side that has the window and by the wall. I get kind of isolated and work hard when ever I'm in that spot. I just helps me immensely in terms of working. If I need help usually Joonoh or Terado or Hyacinthe sit beside me or in front on the other side and I always seem to accomplish my work when I am over there and plus I am close to the teacher so I can hear if the class is stopped for whatever reason.

Camp Sixtus Lodge 2016

Camp Sixtus Lodge 2016

We did lots of fun challenges and activities some of which were:
  • Horse riding
  • Tramping
  • Egg and spoon race
  • Darts
  • Making hokey pokey
  • Water slide
  • Shooting slug guns
  • Burma trail

My favourite activity was shooting slug guns with Jason. Jason was one of the camp parents there with us. It was so cool. The first time I missed but the second time I got it. It turns out I got a four. This is how it works 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 bulls eye. I had another try and got a seven I was so proud of myself. I had one last try at it got it again! I ran over to see what it was, it was a eight at this moment I was jumping with jive as I was so proud!

Camp Sixtus Lodge was a Blast!!!
